Another activity

Good morning,

This is another activity that the children can do at home.

On a paper, with a marker, draw different lines and shapes for example: straight lines, zig zag lines, wavy lines, circles, squares, triangles and rectangles. Then, the children can put pompoms, beans, bottle caps, buttons and coloured pasta on the lines and shapes.

Object match activity

Good morning,

This is another simple activity that can be done at home.

On a large paper, with a marker, trace around different objects you have at home such as a pencil, a toy car, a plate, a shoe, a key, a book and a spoon. Put the objects that you used in a boxΒ  and the children need to put the actual object on the correct area on the paper.

This is just an idea:

Coloured pasta

Coloured pasta can be used for a colour sorting activity. It can also be used for threading. The children can thread pasta through a string/pipecleaner.

These are the steps to dye some pasta.

You need: raw pasta, bowl, cup, vinegar, food colouring, tray, container

  • First put the pasta in a bowl.
  • In a cup, mix together a teaspoon of white vinegar and some drops of food colouring.
  • Pour the vinegar and the food colouring over the pasta, close the bowl and shake. After some time, open it and if the colour is not evenly distributed, add some more vinegar and shake.
  • Put the pasta on a tray and let it dry. Store it in a sealed container.

Learning colours through play :)

These are some activities that can be done at home to help the children sort the colours.

The children can be provided with a box filled with bottle caps/pompoms/buttons/blocks or coloured pasta and they need to put them on the correct paper plate/container/cup or coloured paper.

The children can start by sorting two colours (for example red and blue only) but then, they can sort more colours.

Welcome :)

Welcome to kindergarten:)

Hello πŸ™‚ I am Ms. Deborah, your child’s kindergarten educator for this year. This is my first year teaching as I have just graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Early Childhood Education and Care from the University of Malta last December.

I created this blog so that I can post ideas of activities that the children can do during this period where schools are closed. Hopefully, this is over soon and we can return back in the classroom and continue learning and having fun together πŸ™‚

Remember to cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, clean your hands regularly and stay at home to stop the spread of this virus.
